Telegram becomes the most downloaded app globally in the month of Jan. Most of the downloads were from India, about 24% of the downloads. This is the greatest number of downloads from any country.
According to the report of Sensor Tower, Telegram was downloaded 63 million times in January which means in India, Telegram was downloaded 15 million times. Around 4x the normal downloads.This sudden increase in downloads is because of the new privacy policy of Whatsapp, many people migrated to apps like Telegram and Signal. If we talk about other apps, Tik Tok came second followed by Signal, Facebook, Whatsapp, Instagram, Zoom, MX Takatak, Snapchat and messenger.
If we talk about December 2020 list, TikTok was the most downloaded app globally and Telegram was not even in Top 5 list. This controversy of Whatsapp's New privacy policy is only responsible for this.
